An extremely interesting mahogany child's knitting sheath of excellent quality and condition, having two open lanterns each with a moving ball. The body, extensively chip carved on all sides, has a twin cow band cut to the centre and the back has trailing vines. The needle end is in the form of a vase, while at the other end is a beautifully carved fan tailed pigeon. In folk art a bird usually denotes good luck. The whole retains a patination.

An almost identical one is illustrated in Pinto page 306 plate 322.
