A large 18th century mahogany stay busk of flat tapered form, having rounded ends and extensively carved with graduated chip carved roundels. The plain back has a W.J. Shepherd collection label No. LT 2227. This stay busk was sold in the Shepherd Collection of Treen by Sothebys on the 30th. November/1st. December 1983, illustrated on page 89 lot 672. The whole has a good rich colour and retains a patination.
