A pocket screw type beech nutcracker of traditional open ring design, having a medium honey colour and original patination. Hazel nuts were consumed in large quantities in the 18th and 19th centuries, and these were ideal to carry with you in the pocket. They often had teeth marks on the handle, as in this instance.
