A fine early 18th century walnut lever action nut cracker, possibly in the manner of Saint Nicholas, as a full standing figure, having extremely detailed features with open arms, waistcoat, booted feet and standing on a small plinth. The mouth opens to receive a small nut, while a larger nut can be cracked in the reverse of the hinged lever. The whole is in excellent condition, and has a rich colour and patination.
