A fine late 17th century lignum vitae pestle and mortar, having a body of moulded ribbed and waisted design, and raised on a vertical foot. The pestle, we think is original to the mortar, is stepped and rounded with a knop end. Both have a wonderful rich colour and fantastic patination.
