A most unusual coconut lidded bowl, having brass rims and a knob handle. Both the bowl and the lid are fitted with a pewter liner. The exterior has rings of delicately carved decoration. The lid and base have a brass rim and the whole is raised on a circular shallow foot. It was possibly used for iced water or condiments. The whole has a rich colour and patination.
