An extremely large apothecary's boxwood case having its original glass bottle and replaced cork stopper. The threaded and domed lid is above a cylindrical body in the traditional form. These bottle holders were made to protect the glass bottles or containers while travelling, which would have contained perfume or medicines. The whole has a lovely honey colour and patination.
