A good quality Victorian mahogany trammel, which was used for drawing elliptical curves. The points are set on the rod where desired, by means of their boxwood screws, and the device may be used with one pointer as centre pivot and the other scoring the wood, or one pointer may be removed and replaced by the centre fitting, which holds a pencil. It is stamped in four places J. Hind, who was probably the owner. The whole retains a patination.
