A rare carved walnut crouched crocodile nut cracker, having a well grained head with jaws showing his teeth. The scaled body with four legs then unscrews, with a leather washer, to form the nut cracker. The receptacle is on the underside and the scaled tapered tail has a small carved leech at its end. The whole retains a patination.

Surprisingly, an example of a crocodile nut cracker is not recorded in the Art and Character of Nut Crackers by Arlene and George Wagner.
