A good example of a birch peg tankard, having a domed lid with incised line decoration and a central lion, that is hinged to the handle which has a surmounted seated carved lion of traditional design. The well grained body with three slight bands of inset concave moulding, is raised on three couchant carved lion feet in the tranditional manner. The base has ring turned decoration and the whole has a good honey colour and patination.
