Robert Carrick (1829-1904) painted oil paintings and watercolours with a pre-Raphaelite quality which was 'much admired' by John Ruskin. His work is represented in Manchester City Art Gallery and other Public and Private collections throughout the U.K., and his highly detailed landscapes are attractive and highly collectable.
The present painting "The Mussel Gatherers" is a charming watercolour measuring 13"x 18". It is signed lower left and is dated 1877. It is in a fine quality original gilt frame giving an overall size of 22"x 26".
