An extremely attractive early 19th century, Regency simulated rosewood side cabinet, having elegant parcel gilt decoration throughout. The one long drawer over two upholstered panel doors flanked by turned columns. Raised on fabulous original gild carved paw feet.

An elegant piece indeed, this regency side cabinet is a great size in terms of its functionality and offers a large amount of storage space packaged into something really rather beautiful indeed.

Dependent on the availaibility of raw timber and the cabinet makers funds at the time of construction, it was realtively common for some types of Regency furniture to be constructed from a more readily available softwood such as beech, or pine, and then paint decorated to simulate the appearance of a much more expensive, harder to find, exotic type of wood such as rosewood, or coromandel.

Overall the condition of this piece is good. Just the usual old marks and historic scuffs & scrapes which one would expect to find on something of this age and these have of course blended in nicely to form a part of the overall character and patina of the piece. There are no structural defects or visually distressing issues to raise at all.

As with all items which we offer for sale it has been attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers, where it has been generally cleaned, tidied and naturally wax polished to ensure it is ready for immediate placement into the home upon purchase.
