Regency Rosewood Games Table.

A superb quality Regency period rosewood and brass games table. With chess board inlaid, reversible, removable top enclosing backgammon board, flanked by curved ends with original brass gallery. Raised on elegant turned double end supports terminating with sabre feet and ormolu mounted decoration throughout.

This incredibly elegant table is far more functional and useful than initially meets the eye. Extremely well thought out, it manages to combine both an occasional lamp type table, with a games table which includes the ability to play both chess and backgammon, by simply allowing the centre section of the top to slide in either way up, or be removed completely. Also there is the added bonus of being able to take the chess board and use somewhere else altogether should one desire.

The table is constucted from good quality, well figured, striking rosewood veneers and the overall quality and elegance is enhanced further by the beautiful original brass gallery and ormolu decoration, a real touch of regency sophistication.

Overall the condition is good with a few old repairs, as expected on something of this age, but nothing out of the ordinary or to worry about. As with all items which we offer for sale it has also been inspected by our highly skilled, traditional furniture restorers in our workshops to ensure it is in tip top condition to be placed immediately into a retail environment. It has also received a traditional, natural wax polish.
