Regency Rosewood Brass Inlaid Card Table.

A Fine Quality Early 19th Century, Regency Period, Rosewood Rectangular Card Table, Having Well Figured, Swivel, Foldover Top, With Rounded Corners, Enclosing Baized Playing Surface, Over Attractive Brass Inlaid Decoration To Frieze And Faceted Column, With Four Elegant Sabre Legs And Original Brass Paw Castors.

This card table is of relatively typical design for the the output of leading cabinet makers in the early 19th century, in terms of what they were producing for their wealthiest clients.

The quality of the rosewood veneers which have been chosen and the profuse amount of brass inlaid decoration is certainly a real indicator of just how expensive this piece of furniture would have been to produce originally in terms of raw materials alone, let alone taking into account the time it would have taken one of the most skilled craftsmen available available to carry out the various different methods of construction and decoration required for this piece.

It remains in good condition, with many original features and the relatively recently replaced green baize playing surface inside make it absolutely perfect for its original purpose. That said it also serves as an attractive, elegant side, or console table should one not require its original functionality.

As with all items which we offer for sale this Georgian card table has been inspected and attended to by our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish to ensure it is ready for immediate placement within the home before being offered for sale.
