Regency Japanned sewing cabinet beautifully decorated with vibrant chinoiserie scenes, adding a touch of exotic elegance to any room.

This Japanese-made cabinet is adorned with detailed paintings of figures surrounded by gorgeous garden scenes on the front and top. The sides feature more simplistic gardens with pagodas, while the rear incorporates a floral spray.

When the lid is lifted, a silk-patterned lid is revealed, as well as an interior lining composed of pink paper, containing 18 compartments. Among them, three are lidded, twelve are designed for thread reels, and two in the middle are equipped with needlebooks and thimbles. Opening the lid reveals three floral gilded drawers with classic turned bone handles, each with sewing bits and pieces. In addition to its beautiful appearance, this sewing cabinet is fully functional and comes with a tasselled key.

Crafted during the Regency period, this sewing cabinet embodies the best of the era's design elements, with its simple yet elegant lines and exquisite attention to detail. The Japanned finish, a process that originated in the Far East, gives the cabinet a lustrous, black lacquered finish that is both striking and durable.
