An Exceptionally Fine Quality Early 19th Century, Regency Burr Elm Library Table, Or Writing Table, Having Superbly Figured, Lobe Ended Top, Over Three Frieze Drawers Opposed By Three False Drawers To Reverse With Ormolu Mounted Decoration, Raised On Elegant Scrolling End Supports With Attractive Foliate Carved Decoration, Termination On Four Splayed Legs And Original Engraved Brass Castors.

This beautiful table is really quite a wonderful piece of furniture and its difficult to start in terms of deciding how to sing its praises. Constructed from the most fabulous, tightly figured, burr elm veneers which retain a rich, warm colour the top is incredibly elegant, which is only enhanced by the shaped ends.

Another sign of exceptional quality is the ormolu mounted decoration which adorns each and every drawer, or false drawer and the panelled ends.

It is raised on bold end supports, constructed from sold elm and these have been carved with exceptional decoration. It would have taken an incredibly skilled carver to create this particular design.

All of the above is even further enhanced by the mahogany drawer linings and engraved brass castors, both of which are another real sign of quality.

Clearly made in one of the top workshops of the time every last detail of this table has been executed by highly skilled craftsmen and the result of that is a table which would add class, sophistication and elegance to absolutely any space into which it is placed.
