Rare Veramin carpet.
Antique Veramin carpets from central Persia are recognised as exceptional workshop weavings, renowned for their remarkable quality, fine crisp drawings and balanced variety of vegetable dyed colours.
Hand spun in soft durable wool, this early example has a rare ivory background complementing both the simple overall drawing and the colour composition in the central field, framed by a wide terracotta border. The appealing array of colours include sky-blue, bottle green, lilac, ivory, terracotta and apple green which have aged beautifully. The charming pomegranate design symbolises prosperity, fertility and longevity and is derived from early 18th century Azerbaijan rugs.
A highly decorative piece to complement a wide variety of settings.
