A Rare Skyscraper Rouge Marble Art Deco Mantel Clock.

A rare and unusual Art Deco Skyscraper mantel clock housed in a rouge marble case with exceptionally fine figuring with black marble plinth, applied pewter decoration featuring flowers and wheat sheafs standing on four brass pad feet.

Decorated pewter dial with raised Arabic numerals and original polished brass hands.

Hinged brass back door with silk lined sound fret opening to the French eight day movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. The backplate stamped Bonnet & Pottier, made in France and numbered 01434. Circa 1920.

‘Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world’ by Brian Loomes lists Bonnet & Pottier as working in Paris circa 1900.

Pottier also worked with Mansell whose collaborative work can be found in the South Kensington Museum, equally Art Deco pieces by Pottier can be found in fine collections throughout the world.
