Rare Pair Of 16th Century English Limestone Lion Finials. Appleby Castle. Circa 1550-1580.
This fine pair of Tudor limestone lion finials are from Appleby Castle, Westmoreland and would have most probably been part of a buildings structure. One slightly more weathered than the other but equally as impressive. Both in the sejant position holding a shield, wonderful, impressive sculptures.
Provenance Appleby Castle, Westmoreland. Once the seat of Lady Anne Clifford.
