A rare George III period silver inkstand of small size made in Sheffield in 1798 by Thomas Law. The inkstand comprises of two silver topped bottles with Bristol blue glass and to the centre is a taperstick (for lighting the sealing wax) Each detachable piece is original and hallmarked (7 hallmarks in total). The inkstand is rare because of its size and the fact that it was made in Sheffield rather than London. It is of oval shape with a reeded border and stands on four plain curved feet. A lovely piece in excellent condition.
