A really attractive arts and crafts copper and silver box with enamel plaque set to the lid.  The plaque depicts a topless woman admiring herself in a hand mirror with the appropriate inscription “Vanitas” (Vanity).  The background decorated with stylized peacocks.  The enamel colours and overall depiction of the woman are very well done.  This box is unmarked and I have not been able to identify the maker.   I would date it to circa 1910 given the emerging deco feel to the enamel plaque.

The box  can be lined with velvet on request.  Condition is very good, though note the construction of the box is classically arts and crafts and a little crude.  The enamel is in original condition with some small original firing cracks only.  Patina of the copper is very good.
