A fine Italian Pietra Dura mounted Cabinet. Inlaid in Hardstones and Marbles, including Lapis Lazuli, Green Serpentine, Banded Agate and Brocatello. The drawers and the fall front all set in ripple molded ebony frames. All with their original sprung locks. The central fall front concealing a removable section comprising ebony fronted drawers with their original crescent shaped silver handles. Behind this are concealed secret drawers which swing out on a pivoted hinge. Probably Venice or Northern Italy. Circa 1650.

 

Provenance. Interestingly this Cabinet has affixed to the back of a drawer a 19th Century Dealer’s label describing the Cabinet and stating the price to be 125 guineas.
