Philip Naviasky was born in Leeds, of Polish extraction. He studied at Leeds School of Art and was accepted to The Royal Academy Schools at the age of 18. He gained a Royal Exhibition award from The Board of Education for three years at The Royal College of Art. Naviasky painted in Yorkshire as well as in Spain, the south of France and Morocco. He showed at RA, RP, RSA and had a series of solo shows. Galleries in Leeds, Newcastle, Preston and Stoke-on-Trent hold his work.
This lovely example of his work measures 20"x 26" and is signed lower right. "Bowtops" shows a busy gipsy encampment and is framed in a quality gilt frame giving an overall size of 27"x 33".
