Paul Philp Tall Stoneware Vessel.
2010.
The vessel, as with all of Paul Philp's work, was hand built giving the appearance of something that has been formed by natural processes. The restrained use of colour and the mottled surface formed by the course clay contribute to this feeling of an almost natural substance.
Paul Philp studied ceramics at Cardiff College of Art and, in the 70's, was a visiting lecturer at Central School of Art in London. He has lived and worked for many years in Wales where he has drawn inspiration from the natural world. He continues to make pots in his new environment in Bath.
