A Parcel Gilt Footed Rennaisance Salver; Portuguese or Spanish; second half of the 16th Century; the bowl measures approx. 7 inches in diameter, and stands about 2 inches in height; the piece weighs 12ozs. approx. The raised side of the circular central reserve is decorated with a fluted design between two concentric circles of gilt decoration; the reserve itself contains a shell motif, which may indicate that the most likely use of the Salver was baptisms.
