For sale is this wonderful pair of chrysanthemum gold cufflinks by Edouard-Aimé Arnould.  The cufflinks are marked “Arnould” and carry (indistinct) French assay marks. The cufflink flower heads are cast and handle very well. Arnould uses bi-coloured  gold to great effect.

Edouard-Aimé Arnould  was an artist reputed for his avant-garde jewellery with floral themes. He began practising as a manufacturer of jewellery in 1899 and was located at 7 Rue de Racine in Paris. Under the supervision of his wife Yvonne Arnould, Arnould’s worked continued up until 1945.  In 1911, Arnould took part in an exhibition of French artists. The work shop positioned itself as a modernist jeweller of art nouveau, working with such renowned European artists as Alois Reinitzer, prize-winner at the 1900 Exhibition, Manolo Hugué (great friend and compatriot of Picasso), Alphonse Mucha and many others.  The 1902 edition of  the American journal “The Craftsman” (Vol 3, Issue 2) included Arnould’s work (a comb) in an article on Lalique’s jewellery -see images.
