A very good pair of British oak and pollard oak country armchairs by Jack Grimble of Cromer English Circa 1940-50 Of excellent colour, these distinctive and fine quality chairs are partly inspired by the Arts and Crafts furniture of the late 19th Century and partly of primitive design.

Carved to the underside “Jack Grimble of Cromer”. The backs of solid vase shape form each carved with a Tudor Rose, above solid pollarded oak seats flanked by arm rails, raised on chamfered splayed legs.

Jack Grimble of Cromer Norfolk is often compared to Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson and other craftsmen from the 'Yorkshire Critters' school and is becoming more and more collectible. He worked on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk and included commissions for the Royal Family.

Jack Grimble created his style after careful study of medieval English furniture techniques, construction and materials.
