Pair of 17th Century Italian Baroque Parcel-gilt Walnut Leather Armchairs.
A fine pair of walnut Baroque Italian armchairs dating to the middle part of the 17th Century retaining parts of extremely old leather seating.
Italian circa 1650-70.
The leathered and studded square backs with elaborate foliate-carved giltwood finials, above padded seats within scroll-ended serpentine walnut arms, on turned and blocked front legs with turned double stretchers.
The leather upholstery looks extremely old with a wonderful patina and colour.
In excellent condition, as is customary today for armchairs of this age, showing signs of previous professional restoration / replacements.
The robust design with bold scrolling arms are typical of Venetian work of the period.
