Nineteenth Century Senneh Kilim.

1.56 x 1.08 m.

Antique Senneh rugs from Northwest Persia are prized for their exceptional quality, delicate designs and distinctive weaving technique. They represent relics of an era defined by unmatched craftsmanship and creativity, much coveted in the market today.

This striking circa 1890 example features a wonderfully dynamic, all-over design, with irregular, abstract motifs repeated across the field in earthy tones of camel, hazelnut and ochre red, set playfully against a muted blue field, and framed by a decorative three-part border; a bold composition for a piece of this small format.

Retained in very good condition for everyday use, this kilim's fine vegetable-dyed colours have taken on a characterful patina with age.

A charming tribal accent piece, to suit a wide variety of settings.
