Late 19th century New Zealand native timber table in the manner of Anton Seuffert, the octagonal top with various show woods in the form of stars: the indigenous woods probably include kauri, mangeao, towai and rimu on a rewarewa ground; on turned oak legs and castors.
Christies sold a very fine table with a similar top by Anton Seuffert lot 232 19/03/2020.
Tables I've seen by Seuffert have had very fine tripod bases; there are no marks under the top that would suggest the top had ever had a different base so it's possible Seuffert made the top and the base, judging by it's style and signs of age, was made for it in England in the same 1870s period.
