A Most Superb Flight Barr & Barr Worcester Porcelain Vase, Circa 1807-13. Decorated With Shakespeare Scenes.
Of Warwick vase form, painted with named scenes from Shakespeare’s “Pericles” & “The Tempest”, each round panel edged with raised multicoloured pearls, reserved on a deep blue ground, highlighted with gilded detail, with twisted stem & vine leaf gilt handles and a white pearl beaded waist, on a pedestal base with marbled gilding and with a formal border of anthemion and floral garlands within the rim. One named scene is from Pericles Act V Scene 1, Per’ “My dearest wife was like this maid” The other from The Tempest Act V scene 1, “Ariel & Prospero”.
