For sale is this rare Eric Moore Bruton silver jug dated 1961. The design is classic mid century modern, and pretty innovative for 1961. The handle and lid knop are I think a fruitwood, possibly pear. A very lovely heavy piece and excellent in the hand.
Eric Moore Bruton (1915-2000) was multi- talented. He was renowned both as a fictional thriller author often and as a gemoligist, clock expert and jewellery historian. He founded, and successfully led NAG Publishers who were leaders in jewellery related publications. Based on this jug he was also an accomplished amateur silversmith.
For more information on post war silver of this period see “Designer British Silver” by John Andrew and Derek Styles.
The jug is made of an excellent gauge of silver and in excellent original condition.
