Very good quality antique serpentine shaped and later ebonised leather centre table attributed to Merklen Brothers of America New York.
America, New York Circa 1890.
The shaped top having a later tan leather insert which is gilt and blind tooled enclosed with a narrow banding above a central decorative carved frieze, supported by four twisted and turned ebonised legs united by brass shells to a central shaped undertier.
This decorative antique table dates to circa 1890 and is raised on Merklen Bros signature brass claw feet holding a glass ball.
In excellent condition have a recently fitted tan leather hide.
A very decorative and unusual centre table is sure to make a statement and become a talking point in any home.
The Merklen Brothers were manufacturer of high end fine Victorian furniture in New York City between 1885 and 1897. The brothers specialised in turned wood rockers, chairs, sofas, and tables. Take special notice of the way they twist their legs.
