 A LATE MEDIEVAL ENGLISH STONE SCULPTURE OF A WAILING WOMEN. CIRCA 1500.

THIS RARE ENGLISH STONE SCULPTURE WAS DISCOVERED MANY YEARS AGO IN THE RIVER CALDER AT WHALLEY. BELEIVED TO BE ORIGINALLY FROM WHALLEY ABBEY,WHALLEY, CLITHEROE, LANCS. AFTER IT WAS DISCOVERED IT WAS TAKEN TO CASTERTON HALL, KIRKBY LONSDALE,CUMBRIA WHERE IT REMAINED UNTIL 2010, THEN WENT INTO A PRIVATE COLLECTION UNTIL THE PRESENT DAY.
