An extremely good quality and rare matched pair of two similar late 19th century burr walnut baby Sutherland type coffee tables. Having superbly figured drop flap tops raised on elegant turned end supports retaining original castors.

These two tables are extremely similar in their design and finish and certainly work well together. As can be seen from the images there are a few minor design and constructional differences, along with the more obvious height difference.

The epitome of versatility baby Sutherland tables are one of our best selling articles.

These are both veneered in attractive burr walnut and stand at coffee table height, which means that with both flaps raised they make great portable coffee tables with the additional bonus of being able to have their flaps folded down and be tucked away when not in use, taking up effectively no floor space whatsoever of consequence.

The term “Sutherland Table” is believed to originate from the first full size, non “baby” variants of these tables being named after The Duchess Of Sutherland, Mistress Of The Robes To Queen Victoria.
