English marine watercolour painting of a Royal Launching of a Royal Navy Ship.
Circa 1820-50.
Paper.
The picture shows in the centre the hull of a large battleship about to be launched. To either side are grandstands full of people and two tall poles with sailors hanging from them with their hats held high.
There are many people on the ship waving and four enormous flags- the Red ensign, the Union Jack, the Royal Standard and the flag of the Lord High Admiral.
In the water are many rowing boats waiting for the ship to slip into the water. A line of Royal Navy ships are at anchor along the coastline. Tear to left side edge.
