Early Victorian drop dial wall clock, mahogany ‘salt’ box with applied carved garland below the 6 o’clock.
Mahogany surround with cast brass bezel opening to a painted dial with Roman numerals and original finely cut ‘blued’ moonpoise steel hands, signed John Dumville, Cambridge.
Eight day fusee movement with shaped brass plates, anchor escapement and original lenticular pendulum. C.1850.
John Dumville is listed in ‘Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world’ by Brian Loomes as working in Cambridge from c.1830-1875
