A Magnificent and Highly Important Louis XV Style White Carrara Marble Figural Fireplace.
This exceptional marble fireplace has a shaped mantel above a frieze finely carved with scrolling acanthus, flowers and a grotesque mask, centred by a cartouche carved with the coat of arms of a Spanish noble House beneath a coronet. The jambs are each exuberantly carved with expressive putti heads above imposing scrolling volutes, foliate festoons and terminating in fronded acanthus put don on a plinth base.
Spanish, Circa 1870.
