This stunning plaque is by Mabel Sefton,  a highly respected sculptor and enamellist active around 1905-10.  The plaque has that desirable gem like quality and is titled “I am half sick of the shadows said the Lady of Shalott”.  The depiction of this verse from Tennyson’s work was also made famous in 1916 by William Waterhouse. The plaque is in excellent condition and is in an old, probably original, frame. Sefton’s signature and date are visible at the bottom of the enamel.  The plaque was exhibited at the Liverpool Walker Art Gallery 1910.
