A Louis XVI Ormolu and White Marble Mantel Clock by Lechopie A Paris, Circa 1785.

The case surmounted by a cockerel standing on books, flanked by two allegorical figures representing 'La Science' and 'L'Etude', on a two tiered shaped rectangular base, mounted with panels of putti, on gadrooned bun feet, the circular white-enameled dial with Arabic numerals, with outer concentric calendar ring and quarter hour, the inner concentric ring with zodiac signs and week days, signed 'Lechopie A Paris', the movement signed 'Lechopie A Paris', the base marked '16808'.

A clock of this model, but with patinated bronze figures and variations to the base and its ormolu mounts, is in the Swedish Royal Collection, see H. Ottomeyer and P. Proschl, Vergolte Bronzen, Vol I Munchen 1987, p.297, fig.4.18.4. Other examples can be found in the Elysee Palace, Paris and the Imperial Place in Pavlovks, St Petersburg.
