A little 17th century silver Spanish night light Candlestick, City mark for Barcelona for the 17th century – see Enciclopedia de la Plata Espanola y virreinal americana,1985, p.105, 9th mark; engraved with a contemporary crest of a shield with diagonal lines (for the colour blue); above it an earl’s crown with engraving either side. Not much domestic Spanish silver survives, so this is a rare piece. It is 6.5 cms high and weighs 5.5 ozs approx.
