A Liberty silver Cymric bowl with conemara marble stones set around the rim and copper feet, marked for Birmingham, 1900. This is a classic Oliver Baker piece and an early Cymric design.  This bowl appears in the first illustrated Liberty Cymric catalogue, page 27. Like most of Liberty’s early works for Oliver Baker the piece is heavy and a very good gauge of silver.  A hallmarked mixed metal bowl such as this is rare in English silver.  The hallmarking is legal because the copper legs are attached using silver rivets rather than solder.

The bowl is in overall good antique condition with three replacement conemara stones to the rim that are a close match to the original more translucent stones.  For more details on Oliver Baker see my article on him at this link.
