THIS ANCIENT ENGLISH CHEST HAS A GREAT PRESENCE, THE SINGLE PIECE BOARDED OAK TOP ABOVE A FRONT WITH A LARGE IRON LOCKPLATE AND SHAPED IRON BINDINGS.
AN ALMOST IDENTICAL CHEST CAN BE FOUND IN THE SAXON CHURCH, DEERHURST, GLOUCESTERSHIRE, AT THE EAST END OF THE SOUTH AISLE. DESCRIBED AS AN ANCIENT WOODEN CHEST, ALMOST DEFINITELY MADE BY THE SAME HAND.
