A BEAUTIFUL LATE 15TH/EARLY 16TH CENTURY OAK CARVING OF THE NATIVITY. FLEMISH. CIRCA 1500.
THIS WONDERFUL DETAILED AND EXECUTED SCULPTURE DEPICTS THE VIRGIN MARY AND JOSEPH WITHIN THE STABLE, TO THE FRONT IS THE BABY JESUS AND TO MARYS RIGHT IS THE GOOD SHEPHERD, BEHIND ARE THE OX AND THE ASS. THE WHOLE SCULPTURE HAS A WONDERFUL COLOUR AND PATINATION.
MINOR PERIOD LOSSES AND A LATER PIECE OF OAK TO THE BASE TO STABILISE THE CARVING.
