An unusual shield / cartouche shaped 19th Century Victorian giltwood and gesso overmantel mirror of large proportions standing 6ft tall.
English Circa 1880.
Of Neo-Classical cartouche shaped form, the original mirror plate within a scroll, flower and diaper-decorated frame, the ribbon-tied shell crest pediment festooned with flower chains above a pair of shaped brackets and mirrored plate spandrels flanked by acanthus scrolls.
In exemplary condition retaining the original mercury glass plates.
Note : This is an unusual shaped and large overmantel mirror that is very impressive in the flesh.
