Gay Frères began making jewellery in Geneva in 1835, including chains for pocket watches and metal bracelets for wristwatches. Rolex was an early customer, and Gay Frères became a significant manufacturer, supplying inventively designed watch straps to major watch brands such as Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piquet and Jaeger LeCoultre.
Their artisanal jewellery from the sixties and seventies is very collectable and in high demand. In addition to their own brand, Guy Frères made intricate necklaces and cuffs for Van Cleef & Arpels and Hermes.
It remained a family business until Rolex purchased the company in 1998.

Mokume gane is a Japanese technique from the 17th century. It translates closely to “wood grain metal”. Metal takes on the appearance of natural wood grain, and this effect is achieved by fusing different metals into a laminate.

Length approximately 175 mm, width 15 mm at the end of the bracelet and 20 mm in the middle.
