Italian, Bologna, circa 1600 carved and gilded cassetta frame with ribbon twist and lambs tongue sight moulding and beed and reel and racking flute outer moulding bordering a punched gold frieze of intertwining acanthus leaf ornament. Frame retains the original gilding.
