Georgian Mahogany Extending Breakfast Table.

A quite exceptional quality and rarely found late 18th century George III period mahogany extending, breakfast type dining table. Having superbly figured adjustable top with one original leaf. Raised on bold turned central support with four elegant swept legs retaining original brass cup castors.

This fabulous quality table is of a design which is much rare to find than other types of formal georgian extending dining tables. The rarity is in the fact that without the additional leaf in place it is basicially a very elegant georgian centre, or brekafast table, an all in one design with a central support.

It is constructed from rich, dense, well figured mahogany which is certainly some of the best timber which would have been available for the cabinet maker to buy at the time. The overall quality of the piece is epitomised by the fac that there are no brass clips required to hold the different sections of the top together, it is simply so well made that they just glide together so well.

The table retains its one original leaf, again this is something which is a nice feature as so many 18th and early 19th century dining tables have either lost leaves, or are provided with replacement leaves which simply don't look right and ruin the aesthetics of the piece.

The table is very sturdy and very much fit for purpose and will be n doubt be an integral part and feature of the home wherever it ends up. Overall the condition is very good and also the table has been inspected in our workshops to make sure it is in absolute prime condition beforre being offered for sale.
