Georgian Mahogany Bracket Clock by Hector Simpson, London.
Georgian bracket clock in a finely figured flame mahogany case standing on a raised moulded plinth and resting on four turned bun feet.
The case surmounted by a carved pediment with decorative brass carrying handles.
The glazed front door opening to a painted dial with Roman numerals, original ‘blued’ steel hands signed ‘Hector Simpson, Old Bond Street, London’.
Glazed door to the rear opening to a substantial eight day fusee movement with shaped plates, original pendulum and pendulum holdfast. C.1785
‘Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world’ by Brian Loomes lists Hector Simpson as working form Old Bond Street, London from 1784-1790.
