Georgian Green Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy.

The tea caddy of rectangular shape with canted corners beautifully formed with a green tortoiseshell exterior edged in ivory with a silver plaque and escutcheon. When opened the tea caddy reveals a faced boxwood interior with tortoiseshell lids and applied bone handles. To the inside, the caddy shows traces of the original foil paper lining. The tea caddy dates to circa 1790 during the reign of George III. 

The tea caddy comes complete with a working lock and key.

 

 

This object incorporates old ivory and has been registered with Defra
